ABSTRACT

As a result of the 2008 financial crisis, the international financial system underwent a fundamental change. The crisis has highlighted various weaknesses in the economic system. One of these weaknesses was the unregulated nature of investment markets and their inefficient structural structure. Funds managed by investment fund managers have also been hit hard by the crisis. In the post-crisis period of 2008, there was a dynamic economic boom, which also affected the types of investment funds and their changes. However, the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 onwards is a special crisis. Its unique nature is reflected in the fact that financial markets have remained stable under the influence of central banks. This, in turn, did not necessarily affect the investment market, and in particular investment funds, as expected in the event of a downturn. In our research, we illustrate the change of investment funds along economic cycles through the quantitative changes of Hungarian investment funds. In our analysis, we illustrate the evolution of fund changes through hierarchical cluster analyzes. In the course of our research, we found that Hungarian investment funds move in line with market and retail investment trends, and the structure of investment funds does not show a significant change during the sixteen years examined, regardless of changes in economic cycles. © Institute of Society Transformation, 2021

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Population migrations have a significant impact on the whole world, and in times of COVID-19 crisis represent an additional strain on a country's healthcare system. The aim was to examine the oral health of International Protection Seekers that resided in the Reception Centre for the International Protection Seekers in Zagreb in the period from 15 January 2020 until 10 February 2021, as well as their dental status, and thus the need for dental care. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 121 male and female subjects aged between 18 and 75. All respondents signed an informed consent for the research, completed a specially designed questionnaire related to their socioeconomic-demographic and medical status, and were examined with a dental mirror and a probe in order to determine oral status. Results: The results of this study show a correlation of KEP with age and certain socioeconomic variables, but there is a large interindividual difference among respondents. For component E of the KEP index the most pronounced correlation is with age;highly educated International Protection Seekers in the Republic of Croatia have a lower share of carious teeth than those who are less educated or uneducated. Also, the results show that single people have a smaller number of extracted teeth compared to the subjects who are in some form of relationship. Conclusion: Given the results of our research, International Protection Seekers as a unique population have a poor KEP index, so we can conclude that public health education and systematic dental care for oral hygiene of International Protection Seekers should be one of the goals of reception centers where this population is located.
